The collection of materials documents Alexander Wetmore's continued investigations into the nature and origin of duck mortality in Utah and Montana (1914-1915), while in the employ of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Bureau of Biological Survey. Materials include correspondence, supply lists, expense books, receipts, reptile lists, canceled checks, and bank statements. Three Memoranda of Traveling Expenses issued by U.S. Department of Agriculture are housed in an archival envelope. They document traveling expenses (meals, lodging, travel including destinations and dates, supplies) December 10, 1914 - October 28, 1915. Correspondence discusses locations, noting issues with health of ducks; permits required; expenses covered; authorized travel; and transportation and study of specimens and samples of earth and water. Correspondents include residents of affected areas, employees of the USDA, local government officials of effected areas. Primary sites observed and studied including Salt Lake Valley, Utah, and Lake Bowdoin, Montana
